Simcoe Dental accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a groundbreaking initiative by the Canadian Federal Government to provide essential dental care services to eligible residents. Launched in December 2023, the CDCP aims to ensure that every Canadian has access to comprehensive and affordable oral health care.
The CDCP program provides coverage for a range of dental services including:
- Dental examination and x-rays
- Teeth cleaning
- Fillings
- Root canal therapy
- Removal of teeth
- Crowns (requires preauthorization)
Eligibility for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is determined based on factors such as age, income, and health conditions. Specific groups, including seniors aged 65 and over, children under 18, and adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate, have defined application phases. All remaining eligible Canadians aged 18 to 64 without access to dental insurance will be able to apply starting in May 2025, with coverage available as early as June 1, 2025. The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) provides dental coverage to eligible Canadians who lack access to dental insurance and have a household income below $90,000. It is not a free dental program, but rather a cost-sharing arrangement where the government reimburses a percentage of dental care costs based on income.
Note: If you have dental coverage through a government social program such as Health Smiles Ontario (HSO) or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), you can still qualify for the CDCP. To retain eligibility, CDCP members are required to re-enroll for the program annually.
Cost-sharing:
The CDCP does not cover 100% of dental costs. The amount of co-payment required from the patient depends on their adjusted family net income. There is no co-payment for those with an adjusted family net income under $70,000, while those with incomes between $70,000 and $89,999 will have a co-payment ranging from 40% to 60%.
Application Process:
Applying for the Canadian Dental Care Plan is a straightforward process. Eligible residents can apply online through the CDCP portal, providing necessary documentation and personal information. Our step-by-step guide ensures that you have all the information you need to complete your application successfully.
